Our Church
Origin Of United National Church(UNC) In South Africa. Kereke Ea Kopano Ea Litshaba Tsa Ma Afrika
The United National Church in South Africa was established on August 16, 1931, at Riverside Flaakfontein in the Pretoria district of the Republic of South Africa, by the late President Sefako Mapogo Makgatho. President Makgatho, born near Pietersburg on September 18, 1861, was a devoted Christian evangelist of the Methodist Church of Africa and also a qualified teacher, serving as a father figure to many South Africans.
Initially, the church was known as the United National Church of Africa, or Kereke ea kopano ea ditshaba tsa ma Afrika reflecting President Makgatho passionate vision and commitment to uniting churches established by African people in South Africa. However, during the Conference held in Leeukraal from December 15th to 20th, 1959, a resolution was passed to rename the church to the United National Church in South Africa. The presiding President during this transition was the late President Rt Rev J.J.M Gqoloma.
The church currently boasts a membership of (-) individuals within our reach, organized into 11 circuits and 3 stations.
WE BELIEVE IN THE TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD, THE BIBLE

We pride ourselves on breaking away from traditional stereotypes, offering a unique and inclusive community experience. Our approach to worship is vibrant and engaging, fostering an atmosphere that is both fun and spiritually enriching. Despite our dynamic nature, we hold firm to the foundational truths of the Bible. As a Christian evangelical church, our central mission is to share the transformative message of Jesus Christ with everyone we encounter.

Our vision is to win souls for the cooperate body of Christ and to ensure that the supreme Word of God is not only spread but also applied throughout our nation, Africa, and the entire world. We are committed to addressing the spiritual climate of our time, zealously preaching the Gospel to every corner of the globe.
Mission
Our mission is to serve as a potent force for unifying the body of Christ through enthusiastic praise and worship, dedicated prayer, and the diligent teaching of God’s Word. We are committed to walking in purity and righteousness, both individually and collectively. The church will extend its reach by establishing meaningful structures within various communities, addressing social needs and spiritual challenges. We will implement control measures through the development, monitoring, and reporting processes to ensure the church’s continuity, sustainability, relevance, and effectiveness. Additionally, we will uphold biblical principles in all aspects of leadership.
ESSENTIAL
CHRISTIAN BELIEFS
GOD
We believe in one God, the Creator and Sovereign of the universe, who exists eternally in three distinct personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, known as the Trinity. These three persons are co-equal and indivisible, comprising one Godhead. God is perfect in every attribute, including holiness, love, power, knowledge, justice, and mercy.
Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22 | 2 Corinthians 13:14 | 1 Peter 1:2 | Matthew 28:19 | Psalm 90:2
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with God the Father and God the Son. He serves as the divine helper, assistant, counselor, and instructor. Present in the world, the Holy Spirit illuminates humanity to recognize their need for Jesus Christ. Upon salvation, the Holy Spirit indwells every Christian, providing them with the power to live a transformed life, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in righteous living. Additionally, the Holy Spirit bestows spiritual gifts upon believers at the moment of their salvation. As Christians, we endeavor to submit to His control daily.
2 Corinthians 3:17 | Acts 1:8 | Ephesians 1:13; 5:18 | John 16:7-13; 14:16-27 | 1 Corinthians 2:12; 3:16 | Galatians 5:25
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father, and both fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless human life. He willingly offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of humanity by dying on the cross, serving as a substitutionary atonement for our sins. After three days, He rose from the dead, demonstrating His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will one day return to earth to reign as the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Matthew 1:22-23 | Romans 1:3-4 | Hebrews 4:14-15 | Isaiah 9:6 | Acts 1:9-11 | John 1:1-5; 14:10-30, 14:16-17
Salvation
Salvation is God’s unmerited gift to humanity, freely given to us. We receive this gift through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. Repentance involves turning away from our sins and directing our lives toward Christ. Faith entails placing our trust solely in Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. When we exercise faith in Jesus Christ, His perfect obedience is imputed to us, and God views us as clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Every individual genuinely saved is securely held in the Lord Jesus Christ and is assured of spending eternity in heaven. Conversely, those who pass away in their sins will face eternal separation from God in Hell.
Romans 6:23 | Titus 3:5 | John 14:6; 1:12 | Galatians 3:26 | Ephesians 2:8-9 | Romans 5:1
Church Government
We affirm the principle of the local autonomy of the church, where each congregation has the authority to govern its own affairs under the leadership of Christ. However, this autonomy does not preclude cooperation. As a cooperating church, we engage in joint efforts with other circuits, pooling and sharing resources to support our Head office and the establishment of churches across various regions. This collaborative initiative is known as the Centralized management. The church’s hierarchy comprises the President, Bishopric, Executive Council, Superintendents, Reverends, Deacons, and the Cabinet, representing circuits and organizational structures.
ACTS 15
Lords Supper/Holy Communication
The Lord’s Supper, an ordinance of the church, was instituted during the Passover meal before the Lord’s crucifixion. We partake in the Lord’s Supper regularly to commemorate Jesus Christ’s atonement for our sins. It serves as a proclamation of His death and a reminder of His promised second coming. Participation in the Lord’s Supper is reserved for those who have acknowledged faith in Jesus Christ. The bread and grape juice used in the Supper symbolize Christ’s body, broken, and His blood, shed as payment for our sins.
